According to the official figures of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, in 2019 agrarians planted peas throughout the areas of nearly 126 thsd ha, an increase of 24% compared with last year. APK-Inform analysts estimated the general harvest of the crop at 163 thsd tonnes with the yield of 1.3 t/ha.
The analysis of the regional distribution of peas production demonstrated that four oblasts of Kazakhstan cultivated nearly all peas volumes — North Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Akmola and East Kazakhstan oblasts. At the same time, to date there are no official statistics figures concerning the planted areas in the reporting oblasts, said the analyst of APK-Inform Agency.
Also, it is worth noting that since 2016/17 MY, the export share in the general distribution of peas significantly increased. In 2018/19 MY, the volumes of peas supplied on the foreign market totaled 79.3 thsd tonnes. The figures became a new record for the crop, and it was 7.6 times higher compared with the results achieved three seasons ago.
