APK-Inform analysts slightly increased their estimations of the export potential of wheat from Kazakhstan in the season-2019/20 — to 3.35 mln tonnes, up 1.5% compared with the previous forecast, which still remained the lowest figures for nine recent seasons. At the same time, the estimations of barley exports remained stable, and still totaled 1.7 mln tonnes.
In particular, the shipment rates of Kazakh wheat on foreign markets were significantly lower compared with the previous season. For the period of July-October of 2019/20 MY, the export volumes totaled 1.4 mln tonnes, down 26% compared with the same period in 2018/19 MY.
Both reduction of wheat production in the reporting season, and the high prices of the grain, contributed to formation of the low rates of the raw materials exports. According to APK-Inform estimations, in November 2019 the foreign shipments of wheat totaled nearly 550 thsd tonnes, down 18% compared with November 2018.
In addition, the general export potential of wheat in Kazakhstan totals 3.35 mln tonnes. For the first four months of the season, Kazakhstan already realized the potential at 42%.
