The share of Kazakhstan in the total import of wheat to China was 6% in 2019/20 MY (about 320 thsd tonnes), down 37% compared to 2018/19 MY (506 thsd tonnes), informed APK-Inform. Supply of Russian wheat to China is minimal and follows a downward trend too. Russia exported almost 50 thsd tonnes of wheat to China in 2019/20 MY, down 34% year-on-year.
As to the segment of wheat flour, Russian product dominates on Chinese market, despite the fact that Kazakhstan is the second largest exporter of flour in the world. In 2019/20 MY, Russia exported 141 thsd tonnes of flour to China, up 43%, while Kazakhstan shipped 19 thsd tonnes of flour only, down 47% year-on-year.
According to International trade center and APK-Inform, China imported about 230 thsd tonnes of wheat flour in 2019. The share of Russian product reached 60%, Ukrainian - 19% and Kazakh - only 9%.
