According to Oil World figures, for several recent years Kazakhstan surely keeps the third position in the TOP-3 of global countries-producers of flaxseed. Thus, in 2016/17 MY the production of flaxseed in the Republic of Kazakhstan reached 15% of the global harvest volumes - 400 thsd tonnes, an increase of 18% compared with the volumes in the season-2015/16, due to growing of the oilseed planted areas and increased yield figures.
Traditionally, in 2016/17 MY Russia and Canada took the first and second positions in the rating, and covered 23% and 21% of the global harvest volumes - 630 thsd tonnes and 579 thsd tonnes, respectively. So, in the reporting season the global production of flaxseed totaled 2.7 mln tonnes.
Oil World analysts forecasted that in 2017/18 MY the global production of flaxseed will decrease by 11% (to 2.4 mln tonnes), due to downward trends in the major countries-producers. So, in the current season the production volumes in Russia, Canada and Kazakhstan will reach 520 thsd tonnes, 550 thsd tonnes, and 350 thsd tonnes, respectively.
