Over the last five seasons, the export of pulses from Canada to India has been declining due to the higher competition from Ukraine and Russia. Lower logistic costs are the advantage of the Black Sea region. However, Ukraine needs to develop not only the cultivation of pulses, but also the delivery quality, declared the special guest of the online conference Niche: focus on pulses – the Director of AMC Overseas FZE, Suvra Chakraborty.
“The Black Sea region has many advantages to strengthen its position on the huge Indian market of pulses. However, it is necessary to pay attention not only to the ability to deliver goods to India faster and cheaper. Indian buyers are ready to give premium for Canadian pulses, as they are sure of quality. At the same time, to import pulses from the Black Sea region is a lottery as exporters do not pay enough attention to the delivery conditions”, - the speaker said.
These problems prevent the growth of Indian importers’ confidence and the increase of import from the Black Sea region.
