According to experts of APK-Inform Agency, during recent week the average purchasing prices for sunflower seeds in Ukraine decreased by 250 UAH/t - to the level of 3700-3900 UAH/t CPT. Market participants still continue associating the fact with the possible imposition of the customs duties on sunflower oil exports from the country. As a reminder in mid-September, the Ministry of Finance proposed to set the customs duties on exports of sunflower oil since January 1, 2012. The duty rates may reach 5-10%. In such way the Ministry of Finance intends to raise revenues to the state budget.
The association Ukroliyaprom believes that the possible imposition of export duties on sunflower oil will artificially raise the export price of Ukrainian oil and make it uncompetitive, resulting in the loss of foreign markets and, consequently, reduction of the domestic production.
Imposition of the export duties on sunflower oil demands, respectively, increase of the export duties on sunflower seeds to the level of 20% in order to prevent mass exports of sunflower seeds from the territory of Ukraine.
