Production potential of sunflower oil is record high in Ukraine in 2021/22 MY, declared Svetlana Kyrychok, oilseed analyst of APK-Inform within the online conference Fat&Oil Industry-2021 organized by APK-Inform on November 3.
“In September, the production of sunflower oil totaled 452 thsd tonnes only. It was the lowest for this month since 2018/19 MY. The crushing season started later this year due to the delay of the harvesting campaign of sunflower seed. Moreover, farmers are reserved sellers”, – she noted.
Ukraine will produce the record volume of sunflower oil in the full 2021/22 MY – 7.1 mln tonnes (+23% to 2020/21 MY).
“Ukraine decreased the export of sunflower oil by 14% y/y in September-October. Foreign supplies totaled 711 thsd tonnes being the lowest since 2017/18 MY. Limited output of the oil due to the moderate supply of sunflower seed can retain in the coming months. It can affect the export volumes as well. However, we expect Ukraine to export the record 6.7 mln tonnes of sunflower oil in 2021/22 MY (+28% y/y)”, – S. Kyrychok added.
