Ukrainian Grain Congress: development of the grain business in terms of a new agricultural policy

One of the most significant events for the grain sector of Ukraine - the Second round of the V Ukrainian Grain Congress - will take place in Kiev on November 24-26, 2014.

The All-Ukrainian public organization Ukrainian Grain Association and the information-analytical agency APK-Inform are organizers of the Congress.

Organizational partners: the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Grain and Feed Trade Association (GAFTA), the USAID AgroInvest Project.

The Congress will focus on the most topical issues of development of the world and Ukrainian grain markets; give its estimations of the factors determining the required conditions of effective grain trade in the Black Sea region; specify the benchmarks of the grain sector of Ukraine in the medium- and long-term prospect.

However, in the current year the traditional issues of further development of the grain sector in Ukraine will be considered through the prism of the new agrarian policy, which will begin forming in the nearest future.

In addition, the Congress has an important task - to achieve the effective dialogue between business and the government. The reporting dialogue will have rather important value in the current year, because within frames of the meeting representatives of the grain business of Ukraine jointly with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the Agrarian committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, and representatives of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN, the EBRD, sectoral agrarian association of the international organizations, will not only analyze the interaction between the government bodies and agricultural business during three recent marketing seasons, but also specify the key aspects for formation of the new agricultural policy.
