In 2013 the profitability of production of almost all agricultural crops in Ukraine significantly decreased, and it reached the new record minimum level for the major grain crops, declared Olga Sikachina, Deputy Director of the Department of statistics of agriculture and environment of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, on September 9 during her speech at the First round of the V Ukrainian Grain Congress in Paris.

At the same time, the expert called "reducing of the world quotations for agricultural products to the minimum levels", as well as "certain domestic processes on the market of Ukraine”, as one of the main factors of the reporting profitability fall.

So, in 2013 the average cost of one tonne of grain in Ukraine decreased by nearly 17% compared with the previous year index. At the same time, the reduction on wheat totaled 12%, barley – 8%, maize - 21%. During the first 7 months, the reporting reduction of maize cost continued, and reached 6% compared with the level in 2013, while the indices for wheat and barley started growing - up 24% and 9%, respectively, O.Sikachina.

Also, she noted the growing gap between production and full cost of sold grains, observed in Ukraine.

During 3 recent years the volume of administrative costs, marketing costs, other operational and financial costs significantly increased, and totaled nearly 170 UAH, or 13.5% of the general costs per tonne of grain, said the expert.
