Realizing of the phased dredging works of the Bug-Dnieper Liman channel is the top-priority goal for development of the river grain logistics in Ukraine, declared Yuri Skichko, Director of Hermes-Trading LLC, at the Ukrainian-American Agrarian Congress on March 25.
At the first stage of development of the river logistics and the river port terminals of Nikolaev, it is necessary to carry out dredging to 12.5 m. And then - dredging to 15 m of the channel, and formation of the hub for processing of river vessels, tug and tow trains with loading on Panamax vessels in the safe water area of the Dnieper estuary, he said.
At the same time, Y.Skichko added that development of the Nikolaev port and the Dnieper river will reduce logistics costs at the northern, central and eastern parts of Ukraine.
