APK-Inform continues a series of online conferences, and we could not put the winter planting campaign-2020 in Ukraine aside as the conditions for field works are unfavorable this year.

Drought and temperature anomalies that turned to be traditional for southern regions are observed across almost the entire territory of Ukraine this year. It is very likely that the planting campaign will be late and long, and farmers will concern about sprouting and wintering. These factors combined with the extreme deficit of information regarding the progress of the field works result in high uncertainty about the future crop size.

80% of early grains crop and more than 40% of the overall grain production are accounted for winter crops. Moreover, more than 95% of wheat output, more than 40% of barley production and nearly 100% of rye crop are covered by winter varieties. Thus, the prospects of grain production in 2021/22 MY are in question.
