Further spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19 could lead to higher prices of logistic chains then reducing farmers’ returns, the President of the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA), Mykola Gorbachev said to APK-Inform.
“Coronavirus panic on the global market has bearing on export the most, slowing down logistic chains. It will take more time to process arrived ships. Thus, a ship will spend more time to proceed with all formalities that will slow down trade operations and rise costs of logistic operations all over the world”, - told the expert.
Moreover, higher logistic costs will lead to lower prices of products for agricultural producers.
“For example, when a ship arrives to a discharge port it goes to 10-14 days of quarantine, and it brings additional 200-400 thsd USD of expenses for a seller. Thus, extra expenditures will cause decline of purchasing prices. That is what we can have here in Ukraine in the nearest future”, - added Gorbachev.
