Kazakhstan to extend the state of emergency until the end of April — K.J.Tokayev

The authorities will extend the state of emergency in Kazakhstan at least until the end of the current month, declared the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on April 10.

According to him, on April 15 the Presidential decree on imposition of the state of emergency comes due. It is already clear that the state of emergency will have to be extended at least until the end of April 2020. Kazakhstan still did not pass the peak of coronavirus disease incidence. Therefore, the authorities should not simplify the situation with the epidemic. K.J.Tokayev charged to extend the quarantine regime in the capital, Almaty, Shymkent and in the reporting oblasts until the end of April.

At the same time, he stressed that the decision is quite unpopular, because people want to go out on the streets, restore their normal, traditional daily life. But there is no other way, except for the observance of quarantine regulations, self-isolation. It is the recommendation of domestic and international experts-virologists.
