European part

Northwestern, Central and Volga FDs faced the weather much warmer than usually. The average daily temperature was 7–10° higher than the norm in the warmest days. Thaws (to 1-3° in daytime) were observed during 2-7 days in western regions of Northwestern FD, across most of Central FD and in southwestern regions of Volga FD. Daily air temperature reached -5…-1° in northeastern part of the territory. The minimal temperature declined to -15…-7° in the coldest days, it reached -25…-19 in northern, far eastern and southeastern regions of the territory. The average air temperature was 2–5° higher than the norm, in southern part of Central FD it was 7–8° higher than the norm.

Amount of precipitation varied from 15-20 mm to 25 mm. at the end of the reporting period, snow cover varied from 6-10 cm in southwestern and western regions to 35-40 cm and more in eastern and northeastern regions. The depth of soil freezing reached 40-80 cm in eastern part of the territory. It was 5-15 cm in western regions of Northwestern and Central FDs, thawed soil was observed across some fields. The minimal soil temperature was mainly -4…0° at the depth of tillering zone of winter crops (3 cm). Agrometeorological conditions were mainly satisfactory for wintering of crops.

The weather was very warm in Southern and North Caucasian FDs. The maximal air temperature reached 5…10° across most of the territory. Minimal temperature decrease to -4…-1°. The average temperature was higher than the norm by 4-6°.

The was no snow cover on fields at the end of the reporting period. Snow cover of 5-12 cm was observed only in far northern regions of the territory. Soil was thawed across most of the territory. Conditions for wintering were satisfactory.


Asian part

The weather was colder than usually in Ural FD and West Siberia. The average daily air temperature was 5-9º lower than the norm in most days. Warm spell came in last 1-2 days of the reporting period. Minimal air temperature declined to -27…-23° in western part of Ural DF, to -36…-33° in eastern part of Ural FD and to -42…-39° across most of West Siberia.

Winter crops were covered with snow. The height of snow cover varied from 15-17 cm to 20-25 cm, it reached 35-40 cm and more in northeast of West Siberia.

Frosts were not dangerous for plants. Minimal temperature at the depth of tillering zone of winter crops was -6…-4º. Conditions were satisfactory for wintering of crops. There were no damage to crops across most of the territory.
