Severe frosts that had been observed across the European part of Russia did not caused any significant damage to winter crops, said the Head of Hydrometcenter Roman Vilfand on January 17, informed TASS.
“Wintering is going quite well. The frosts were strong, but the snow came prior to frosts. It prevented the winterkilling. The situation in Southern federal district is good. This year is much better than the previous one. We observed only 4% of loss of winter crops in late November, when the crops entered winter. Last year, it was 22%”, – he said.
