According to APK-Inform, last week, the prices of corn in the ports of Ukraine increased to the highest level since the start of 2019/20 MY.
Thus, the bid prices of old-crop corn increased by 300-350 UAH/t and reached average 5600-6000 UAH/t СРТ-port as of August 17.
“Preliminary data shows corn export at 425 thsd tonnes only in July, down 73% compared to the same month of 2018/19 MY. Despite the low trade activity, traders needed to purchase corn to fulfill previously signed contracts while the stocks are declining and competition with processors is high that supported the prices. Moreover, the prospects of corn production are unclear. Over the week, the minimal prices reached the level, which was hardly achieved by the maximum prices during most of the season”, - the head of the local markets department of APK-Inform, Anna Tanskaya commented.
