As of early August 2019, Russia harvested 36 mln tonnes of grains — Rosstat




As of August 1, 2019, the general production of spring grains and pulses in Russian agricultural organizations reached 36.1 mln tonnes in bunker weight, an increase of 17.1% compared with the same date last year (30.8 mln tonnes), reported the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on August 15.

According to the announcement, agrarians harvested grains throughout the areas of 10.1 mln ha, or 35.6% of the planned areas, against 8.4 mln ha on August 1, 2018. The average yield totaled 3.59 t/ha, as opposed to 3.68 t/ha on the same date last year.

In particular, wheat production formed 30 mln tonnes of the reporting volumes, against 27.1 mln tonnes on August 1, 2018. The average yield totaled 3.74 t/ha, against 3.92 t/ha, Rosstat specified.

Also, in the current year the harvesting campaign of grains and pulses in most territory of Russia started earlier compared with last year. As of the beginning of August, agricultural organizations of the Central, Southern, North Caucasian and Volga Federal Districts already started the grain harvesting works. Also, some regions of the Northwestern, Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts started the harvesting campaign.
