Russia: APK-Inform analysts slightly increased the forecast of grain production

In September 2019, APK-Inform analysts adjusted the supply & demand balances of grain crops in Russia, and increased the forecast of grains production in the season-2019/20 to 124 mln tonnes, up 1.8% compared with the previous estimations.

The forecast increased, in accordance with the similar preliminary figures of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. In particular, the forecast of wheat production grew to 77.5 mln tonnes (up 0.8% compared with the August estimations), barley — 21.3 mln tonnes (up 6%), and corn — 12.6 mln tonnes (up 3%), said APK-Inform analyst, Dmytro Korotya.

Also, the average yield of grain crops increased compared with the last year figures, and reached 2.68 t/ha (up 0.12 t/ha). The forecast of wheat yield formed at the level of 2.83 t/ha (up 0.02 t/ha). In addition, the yield of barley and corn became higher compared with last year, and totaled 2.53 t/ha (up 0.29 t/ha) and 5.64 t/ha (up 1.39 t/ha), respectively.

Despite the reporting adjustments of the general harvest, the forecasted export figures remained unchanged: wheat — 36.5 mln tonnes, barley — 5 mln tonnes, and corn — 4.5 mln tonnes, D.Korotya added.
