Ukrainian grain will be supplied to the traditional markets of Europe and North Africa in 2020/21 MY as well as there will be the growth of demand from Asia, informed the General Director of COFCO Agri Resources Ukraine, Vladimir Osadchuk within frames of the online-conference Grain&Maritime Days Online, on May 28.

“I suppose that many people will watch the Chinese demand for Black Sea grain. Today the situation is stable and the demand for Ukrainian and Black Sea grain is the same or even higher. Thus, everything will depend on pricing. Everyone remember the times when Chinese market was bonus bearing 4-5 years ago and everybody wanted to export to China. Today it is the regular market that scarcely gives any premium”, - he explained.

V.Osadchuk added that barley and corn are of high interest as well as the demand for soybeans, mainly GM free, is growing. So, the quotas for corn remain unchanged in China and COFCO Agri Resources Ukraine expects the import of corn to the country at the level of the current season in 2020/21 MY.

“As to barley, we need to mention the following. Firstly, it is a bit over-regulated phytosanitary requirements agreed by Ukraine and China that complicates the work of our traders on formalization of areas suitable for cultivation. Now we are trying to solve the issue. Secondly, the demand for Ukrainian barley from China is stable so the pricing will be the fundamental factor”, - the expert summarized.
