Recently, the Ukrainian maritime business has been discussing the idea of our colleague and shipping expert Gennady Ivanov saying that today people of Odessa rule much larger fleet than former fleet of Black Sea Shipping Company sadly destroyed by corruption and bad management. This fact brought us the idea to hold a panel discussion “BUSINESS AT SEA OR MARTITIME BUSINESS: PROSPECT 2030” within the conference Grain and Maritime Days in Odessa.

Ukrainian maritime business reached its peak in 2016, when Ukrainian operators had 350-400 vessels under the control that was much higher number compared to the fleet of Black Sea Shipping Company.

Otherwise speaking, it is a good example of all-too-common sharing economy or Uberization. There are companies, who own vessels, have knowledge of investment management, and there are fleet operators, who are experts in peculiarities of markets of different countries and different commodities.

Additionally, we cannot discuss the maritime business without crewing and universities, specialists for technical management and fleet financing.

Moreover, we will discuss the key trends of fleet buy and sell, prospects of Ukrainian shiprepairing and grain transshipment in Black and Azov seas.

Such experts as Gennady Ivanov (KRONOS BULKERS), Bogdan Zelensky (crewing company Alpha Navigation), Maxim Sheremet (freight and operation manager, Baywa Marketing and Trading International B.V.), Volodymyr Kozakevych (CEO, AP MARINE LLC), Maxim Khaulin (INTRESCO LIMITED) have already confirmed their participation in the discussion . Many other experts will join the discussion.

The section will be moderated by Arthur Nitsevych (partner, Interlegal) and Alexander Glushchenko (editorial director, Ports of Ukraine).

Peter Sand (chief shipping analyst, BIMCO) will be the keynote speaker of the discussion. He will present the overview of freight trends of Mediterranean and Black seas.
