The main task of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine is to solve the problem with grain export, the Minister Mykola Solsky said.

“Before war, Ukraine has exported about 5 mln tonnes of grain per month. Now, seaports area blocked. We have 20 mln tonnes of old-crop grain that could not be exported this spring. It is primary money for farmers, for planting campaign, etc.”, – he stated.

Also, the harvesting of winter crops will start in three months that will add extra volumes.

“If the ports remains blocked, we will keep on exporting by land through the western borders and by barges via the Danube’s ports. It will not solve the problem. We exported only 200 thsd tonnes in March”, – M. Solsky explained.

He emphasized that the Ministries of Agrarian Policy and Infrastructure as well as Ukrzaliznytsia would try to reach 1.5 mln tonnes of grain export per month through efforts of both state and business, negotiations with other countries for easing of transit. However, that will not be easy.
