Taking into account the current conditions of winter grains in Ukraine the weather forecasts for the near future, it can be stated that no significant threat to crops is foreseen at the final stages of the winter period, National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine stated.

"Despite the fact that the overwintering of grains will continue for at least 5-6 weeks, at the end of January, as the coldest month of the calendar winter, it is possible to make a reasonable assumption that the crops will pass winter successfully, despite the fairly large planted areas, where winter wheat, as the main grain crop, is quite weak", – the experts said.

At the same time, it is not excluded that as a result of the frosts that were observed in Ukraine in the first half of January, there will be local damage to plants and even their partial death in some regions, which will be explained not only by weather conditions, but also by agrotechnical errors. First of all, this concerns winter barley. Therefore, it is quite possible that farmers will have to replant some barley fields.
