Kazakhstan reveals another scheme of Russian grain import

The Department of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Financial Monitoring in Pavlodar region has revealed another scheme of gray imports of Russian grain. Grain was imported to Kazakhstan for the purpose of further export to third countries through the territory of Kazakhstan, the agency's press service reported.

In cooperation with the transport prosecutor's office, it was established that one of the Kazakh LLPs in 2021-2022 delivered 8.3 thsd tonnes of grain from the Russian Federation to Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan for a total amount of more than 1 billion tenge.

The agency states that the pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Earlier, Kazakh flour millers stated that Kazakhstan annually loses up to $500 million due to the large volume of smuggled grain on the market.
