Significant waterlogging of top soil layers will likely not allow to Ukrainian agrarians to start the planting campaign of spring crops until the end of February 2014, declared Nikolai Kulbida, Director of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, on February 17.
According to the expert, to date winter crops areas in the country were mostly in the condition of winter dormancy, which will continue until the beginning of spring 2014. It is the favorable factor for plants to start active vegetation processes in the required terms, said N.Kulbida.
He noted that to date moderate vegetation of winter crops resumed in the Crimea, southern Ukraine and partially in Zakarpattia oblast.
