In 2014 the rice harvest in the Crimea is actually lost, declared Rustam Temirgaliev, First Vice-Premier of the Government of the Crimea, on May 6.

According to him, in the current year the Crimea lost its rice harvest because the Kiev authorities blocked the North Crimean Canal for some vain reasons. Nearly thousand people involved in the production of rice, are having problems to date.

He also said that the authorities plan to reformat the industry of rice production towards cultivation of other agricultural crops. At the same time, R.Temirgaliev stressed that there will be no deficit of rice in the Republic, because the neighboring region of Russia - Krasnodar Krai - annually produces more than 1 mln tonnes of the grain, which can be supplied at the territory of the Crimea.
