Russia planted spring grains throughout 28.8 mln ha

As of June 2, 2014, agrarians of Russia has already planted spring crops throughout the area of 46.3 mln ha (86.7% of the forecast), an increase of 2.3 mln ha compared with the same date of 2013. In particular, the planted areas of spring grains totaled 28.8 mln ha (90.3% of the forecast), up 1.2 mln ha compared with the same index of June 2, 2013, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

It should be noted that agrarians planted spring wheat throughout the areas of 12.2 mln ha (93.1% of the forecast), up 1.1 mln ha compared with June 2, 2013; spring barley – 8.2 mln ha (93.1% of the forecast), up 0.4 mln ha; maize grain – 2.5 mln ha (97.1% of the forecast), up 207.1 thsd ha.

Also, Russian agrarians continued planting buckwheat and rice – 465 thsd ha (42.2% of the forecast), and 180.1 thsd ha (90.9% of the forecast), respectively.

Agrarians planted sunflower seed throughout 6.6 mln ha (93.9%), spring rapeseed - 896.1 thsd ha (82.2%), soybeans – 1.4 mln ha (80.3%).
