As of June 16, 2014, agrarians of Russia planted spring crops throughout the areas of 51.2 mln ha (96% of the forecast), an increase of 2.1 mln ha compared with the same date of 2013. In particular, the planted areas of spring grains totaled 31.3 mln ha (98% of the forecast), up 0.6 mln ha compared with the same index of June 16, 2013, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
It should be noted that agrarians planted spring wheat throughout the areas of 13 mln ha (99.3% of the forecast), up 0.4 mln ha compared with June 16, 2013; spring barley – 8.8 mln ha (100% of the forecast), up 0.4 mln ha; maize grain – 2.7 mln ha (103.1% of the forecast), up 0.3 mln ha.
Also, Russian agrarians continued planting buckwheat and rice – 937.5 thsd ha (85.1% of the forecast), and 190.3 thsd ha (96.1% of the forecast), respectively.
Agrarians planted sunflower seed throughout 6.9 mln ha (96.9%), spring rapeseed - 962.3 thsd ha (88.2%), soybeans – 1.8 mln ha (107%).
