Moldova: wheat harvest to rise by 10% compared with last year

In 2014 wheat production volumes in Moldova are expected to increase by nearly 10% compared with last year, declared the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of the Republic of Moldova on July 1.

Thus, in the current year the planted areas under wheat totaled 310 thsd ha. The expected average yield totals 3.2 t/ha.

Also, it is noted that agrarians of the country do not hurry to sell their grain stocks. According to them, the current purchasing price is much lower compared with the level which they were expected for. The minimum offer price for wheat was declared at 2700 MDL/t.
