In 2014 Ukraine will face the highest index of winter wheat yield during the whole history of the country, declared Nikolai Kulbida, Director of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, on August 4.
According to him, other winter and spring crops will also show good yield indices. But crops will have low yield indices in the regions affected by the drought - Kherson and Zaporizhzhya oblasts.
At the same time, N.Kulbida said that high air temperatures may adversely affect the yield of maize.
N.Kulbida added that in the current year agrarians provide harvesting works in extremely quickly rates.
