In Ukraine the planted areas of maize faced the deficit of moisture due to the hot weather without any precipitations, which may adversely affect the grain harvest volumes, declared Igor Schwayka, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, on August 13.
According to him, if no rain not going to happen in the nearest 20 days, the total harvest of maize may reduce compared with the forecasted volumes.
As for the harvest volumes of sunflower seed, the moisture deficit will not significantly affect the crop areas, except for southern oblasts - Kherson, Odessa, Mykolayiv.
I.Schwayka added that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy together with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources plans to resume work of soil reclamation systems.
