In the current year the general harvest of agricultural crops in Russia will significantly exceed the average annual level for the country during 5 recent years, declared Roman Vilfand, Head of the Hydrometeorological Centre of Russia (Roshydromet), on August 28.
At the same time, he did not specify the indices, adding only that "in the current year Russia expects for a substantially better harvest volumes compared with last year, and the average level for five recent years”.
Also, R.Vilfand reported that the Hydrometeorological Centre forecasts keeping of favorable weather conditions during the harvesting campaign. In particular, there will be no early frosts in Eastern Siberia. And the currently observed drought in the southern regions of Russia will not lead to a significant reduction of maize harvest.
