According to forecasts of APK-Inform analysts, in 2017/18 MY the production volumes of corn in Ukraine will total 27.1 mln tonnes, declared the editor-in-chief at APK-Inform Agency, Elena Cherednichenko during her report at the round table discussion "New perspective technologies of corn cultivation" on September 26.
According to her, the reporting volume will become lower by 3% compared with the harvest volumes in 2016/17 MY. At the same time, in a new season the domestic consumption of corn will increase by 5% to 7.8 mln tonnes, while the export potential will decrease by 10%, and reach 19.2 mln tonnes.
E.Cherednichenko noted that during 2 recent seasons the carry-over stocks of corn significantly decreased, which in turn will somewhat support the prices. To date, domestic prices for the grain continue decreasing due to coming of new crop grain on the market.
