In 2017, the general harvest of grains in Russia will reach 128 mln tonnes in clean weight, declared the Director of the Department of plant growing, mechanization, chemicalization and plant protection at the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, Petr Chekmarev on October 5.

To date, the harvest volumes already totaled 127 mln tonnes in bunker weight. In order to reach the projected level, agrarians still have to produce another 11-12 mln tonnes, he specified, adding that the harvesting campaign would continue until early December.

In particular, the forecast of wheat production totals 81.4 mln tonnes in clean weight.

The Ministry estimated the potential for grain exports in 2017/18 MY at 53.5 mln tonnes, the domestic consumption - 74.5 mln tonnes, including for food purposes - 17 mln tonnes, feed purposes - 42.6 mln tonnes, seeds - 11.2 mln tonnes, and industrial processing - 3.7 mln tonnes.
