In 2017, Ukraine harvested 18.3 mln tonnes of oilseed crops throughout the areas of 8.9 mln ha, with the average yield at 2.06 t/ha, reported the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food on February 7, referring to the State Statistics Service.
In particular, in the reporting year agrarians of Ukraine harvested 12.2 mln tonnes of sunflower seed throughout 6 mln ha. The average yield totaled 2.01 t/ha. Ukraine harvested 3.9 mln tonnes of soybeans throughout 2 mln ha, with the yield at 1.97 t/ha; and 2.2 mln tonnes of rapeseed throughout 786 thsd ha, with the yield at 2.79 t/ha.
The following oblasts became the leaders in oilseed crops production in Ukraine: Kirovohrad (1.36 mln tonnes), Dnipropetrovsk (1.31 mln tonnes), Kharkiv (1.21 mln tonnes), Vinnytsia (1.2 mln tonnes), Odessa (1.19 mln tonnes), Poltava (1.07 mln tonnes) and Khmelnytskyi oblasts (1.07 mln tonnes).
