Russia: Ministry of Agriculture increased the forecast of grain production and exports

In 2017/18 MY, Russia plans to supply nearly 52 mln tonnes of grains on foreign markets, declared the Director of the department of economy, investments and agricultural market regulations at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Anatoliy Kutsenko on March 16.

According to him, in the current agricultural year the general export volumes will reach 50-52 mln tonnes, including 36-37 mln tonnes of wheat. As a reminder, previously the Ministry forecasted the figures at the level of 45-47 mln tonnes.

According to A.Kutsenko, the Ministry increased the forecast, due to high carry-over stocks of grains, and the observed rates of exports. The figures continued increasing by 1 mln tonnes weekly, he stressed.

Also, the Ministry increased its estimations of grain production in the current year to 110-115 mln tonnes, against the previously forecasted level of 106-110 mln tonnes.

According to the current estimations in the South, and in terms of favourable weather conditions, Russia will reach the potential of 110-115 mln tonnes, if there are not disasters, said the official.
