Agrarians of southern, central and eastern oblasts of Ukraine complained of drought, and forecasted a loss of nearly 50% of the grain harvest volumes, declared the “Ukrainian Agrarian Council” Public Union (UAC) on June 7.

In particular, most complaints were received from agricultural producers of Kherson, Odessa, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia and Vinnytsia oblasts. It was noted that wheat and barley suffered the most, since in some regions of our country there was almost no rain for several months.

"The last rain in our area was 2-3 weeks ago. After that, it was very weak; it soaked the soil no more than 2-3 cm. This is the only rain that we had from the very winter," said the Director of a private agricultural enterprise Lyudmila (Khmelnytskyi oblast), Mykola Gursky.

He noted that the losses of his farm on wheat will reach 30%, and soybeans — nearly 20%.

At the same time, the Director of the farm Shchedra Sadyba-M (Khmelnytskyi oblast), Alexander Bondar forecasted that if he does not have protracted rains in the near future, he can lose nearly 40% of the wheat harvest, and 50% of the soybean harvest.
