Belarus: in three oblasts, crops died due to hot weather conditions

Due to the hot weather conditions in Belarus, in Gomel oblast the crop losses reached nearly 58 thsd ha, in Mogilev oblast — 20 thsd ha, and in Brest oblast — 26.5 thsd ha, reported the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus on June 14.

According to the Chairman of the Committee on agriculture and food of Gomel oblast administration, Ruslan Hlushko, in Gomel oblast winter grain crops died throughout the areas of 44.67 thsd ha, and spring crops — 13.3 thsd ha, due to the drought and moisture resources deficit.

According to the Head of the Department of crop production intensification at the Committee on agriculture and food of Mogilev oblast administration, Lily Gulinsky, in Mogilev oblast the drought damaged grain and pulses crops throughout more than 20 thsd ha, but the grains completely died throughout nearly 2 thsd ha.

According to the Head of the Department of crop and forage production at the Committee on agriculture and food of Brest oblast administration, Alexander Mashlyakevich, in Brest oblast agrarians plan to re-plant grains throughout 26.5 thsd ha under died winter grains, namely to plant millet and barnyard grass.

In order to recompense the expenses for lost winter and spring crops, to date agricultural organizations of the reporting oblasts provide active re-planting works, and use millet, barnyard grass, corn, etc.
