According to participants of the Belarusian oilseeds market, in 2018 the production of rapeseed in the country will decline by 10-15% compared with 2017 figures, despite some expansion of the planted areas, declared the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus.
The planted areas under winter rapeseed for the harvest-2018 increased to 364 thsd ha, against 352.5 thsd ha. The areas under spring rapeseed totaled nearly 60 thsd ha.
According to the State Institution "Republican center for hydrometeorology, control of radioactive contamination and environmental monitoring" (Belhydromet), in the winter the agro-meteorological conditions for the oilseed development were rather satisfactorily. However, due to the adverse weather conditions in March 2018, as well as the deficit of soil moisture in May-June, the losses of winter rapeseed will become higher than originally expected.
