Russia planted spring grains throughout 2.4 mln ha — Ministry of Agriculture




As of April 15, Russia planted all spring crops throughout the general areas of 3.9 mln ha, or 7.4% of the forecast (on the same date in 2018 — 2.3 mln ha), reported the Ministry of Agriculture on April 16.

At the same time, agrarians planted spring grains throughout 2.4 mln ha, or 8% of the forecasted areas (in 2018 — 1.3 mln ha). In particular, spring barley areas reached 1.2 mln ha, or 15.9% of the forecast, and spring wheat — 216.4 thsd ha (1.8%).

The planted areas under corn for grain totaled 227.5 thsd ha, or 8.8% of the plan.

In addition, Russia planted sunflower seed throughout 430.6 thsd ha (5.5%), and spring rapeseed — 45.5 thsd ha (3.2%). Also, Krasnodar Krai started planting soybeans. As of April 15, the oilseed areas reached 20.2 thsd ha, or 0.7% of the forecasted areas in Russia.

Russian agrarians planted sugar beet throughout 334.6 thsd ha, or 29.4% of the plan.

At the same time, agrarians provided additional fertilizing of winter crops throughout 10.7 mln ha, or 60.5% of the planted areas (in 2018 — 7.8 mln ha).
