The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan forecasted some reduction of the general grain harvest in the country by nearly 4% compared with last year earlier — to 19.5 mln tonnes, reported the press-service of the Ministry.

According to the announcement, the trend developed, due to continuation of the current policy of diversification of the planted areas under agricultural crops in the country, which provides reduction of the areas under grain crops.

At the same time, in 2019 Kazakhstan will increase the areas under forage crops by 654.1 thsd ha, feed grain crops (barley, oats, corn for grain, peas, chickpeas) — up 32.3 thsd ha, and sugar beet — up 2.6 thsd ha.

Generally, in the current year the planted areas under agricultural crops in Kazakhstan will grow by 1.3% (291 thsd ha), and total nearly 22.3 mln ha, reported the Ministry.
