As of May 6, Kazakhstan planted spring spiked grains throughout the areas of 522.1 thsd ha, or 3.6% of the planned figures (14.347 mln ha), declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In particular, agrarians of Jambyl oblast already exceeded the plan of planting works by 3.6% and planted grains throughout 191.5 thsd ha. In Kyzylorda, Turkistan and Almaty oblasts, agrarians planted spring grains throughout 4.8 thsd ha (139.3%), 47 thsd ha (90.9%), and 181.6 thsd ha (51.1%), respectively. Also, agrarians of West Kazakhstan oblast started planting grains — 41.1 thsd ha (21.6%), as well as East Kazakhstan oblast — 34.6 thsd ha (6.2%), and Aktobe oblast — 8.8 thsd ha (2.6%).

At the same time, the main grain producing regions of Kazakhstan (Akmola, Kostanay, North Kazakhstan and Karaganda oblasts) plan to start the planting campaign of spring grains in the second ten-day period of May 2019.

In addition, Kazakhstan started planting corn for grain. As of May 6, the planted areas already reached 36.2 thsd ha, or 23.8% of the plan.

As for oilseeds, agrarians planted the crops throughout 216.5 thsd ha, or 7.6% of the plan (2.848 mln ha).
