Russia: by 2024, grain production in the Far Eastern District to double — Ministry of Agriculture

By 2024, the potential of the Far Eastern Federal District of Russia allows increasing the production of grain crops in 2.2 times in comparison with the current level, declared the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Jambulat Khatuov on June 3.

In particular, the production of grains and pulses in the reporting District will increase from 990 thsd tonnes to 2.2 mln tonnes. At the same time, Primorsky Krai will become one of the leaders of the upward trend: the region will harvest 720 thsd tonnes of grains, against 344 thsd tonnes last year. Also, it is expected to double the production of oilseeds — the harvest in the Far Eastern District can grow to 3.3 mln tonnes by 2024, J.Khatuov said.

At the same time, in order to reach the targets, the District needs to improve the efficiency of variety renovation, fertilization and liming of acidic soils, as well as increasing of the technical modernization of agriculture.
