As of June 1, 2019, all categories of agricultural households (agricultural organizations, farmers, population) of Russia planted spring grains and pulses throughout the areas of 26.6 mln ha, an increase of 11.2% compared with the same date last year, reported the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).
As of the reporting date, the planted areas under sunflower seed totaled 7.591 mln ha, up 6.8% compared with the beginning of June 2018. Sugar beet areas reached 1.125 mln ha (up 1.7%).
Also, the Ministry reported that as of the beginning of June, the general losses of winter crops in agricultural organizations (not small business entities) totaled 495.8 thsd ha (6.9% of the planted areas), including grains and pulses — 471 thsd ha (6.8%). At the same time, in the previous year the losses of winter grains totaled 93.8 thsd ha (1.5%).
Taking into account the remained winter crops areas, as of June 1 the areas under grains and pulses in agricultural organizations totaled 28.9 mln ha, up 6% compared with the same date last year.
