In 2020, Russia will harvest 81 mln tonnes of wheat, declared the Head of the analytical center at Rusagrotrans JSC, Igor Pavensky on August 7.

He pointed out that the estimation was revised up by 3.5 mln tonnes compared to the previous forecast and is the second highest on record after 2017 (86 mln tonnes).

“Sharp increase of the forecast was made on record yield of winter wheat in many oblasts of Central and Volga Federative Districts. Moreover, rather high yield is observed in Ural FD at the start of the harvesting campaign”, - the expert explained.

He said that the average yield of Russian wheat could reach 2.75 t/ha in 2020, up 4% compared to 2019 (2.65 t/ha). Moreover, the planted areas under wheat increased to record 29.4 mln ha (+4.6%), according to Rosstat.

“Russia will export 37.5-38 mln tonnes of wheat in 2020/21 MY (including shipments to the EAEU)”, - I.Pavensky summarized.
