Russia: share of 1-4-grades in the structure of harvested wheat continues to decline

As of August 17, the common share of 1-4-grades wheat declined to 73% in the structure of harvested wheat so far in Russia, down compared to the previous week (73.4%) and to the same date of 2019 (79%), reported the Federal State-Funded Institution "Federal Centre of Quality and Safety Assurance for Grain and Grain products" on August 18.

The experts examined 13.5 mln tonnes of soft wheat (23% out of the total harvested volume as of reporting date) in 31 regions of Russia.

Particularly, the share of 2-grade wheat totaled 0.03 (0.02)%, share of 3-grade wheat – 31.5 (31.7%), 4-grade wheat – 41.5 (47.3%), and 5-grade wheat – 27 (26%). There was no 1-grade wheat in the total harvest (0.003% in 2019).

As to barley, the experts examined 1.8 mln tonnes (23.9%) of the grain in 16 regions. The share of 1-grade barley totaled 27.1 (28.3)%.

“Moreover, the experts examined 243.2 thsd tonnes of rye (or 30.1% of the harvested volume) in 11 regions. The common share of 1-3-grades rye totaled 91.7% that exceeded the year ago level", - was stated in the message.
