Forecast of Russian wheat crop revised up again

The analytical center at Rusagrotrans JSC revised its forecast of wheat production in Russia up by 0.9 mln tonnes to 81.9 mln tonnes, declared the Head of the center, Igor Pavensky on August 19.

“We revised our estimation due to the higher than expected yield of wheat in Volga region and lower than expected decline of the yield in some regions of Siberia and Ural”, - explained the analyst.

He added that the most significant upward revision of wheat production forecast happened for Volga FD - up 0.5 mln tonnes to 18 mln tonnes as well as for Siberian FD (up 0.3 mln tonnes) and Ural FD (up 0.1 mln tonnes).

“We keep our barley and corn estimates unchanged at 20.3 mln tonnes and 14 mln tonnes correspondingly. The forecast of overall grain harvest was revised up to 128.4 mln tonnes compared to previously expected 127.5 mln tonnes”, - I.Pavensky said.

He added that the forecast of wheat export in 2020/21 MY was revised up by 1 mln tonnes to 39 mln tonnes (including shipments to the EAEU).

“The estimate of the overall grains and pulses export was increased by 1 mln tonne as well to 49.5 mln tonnes”, - he summarized.
