Kazakhstan harvested 3 mln tonnes of grain

As of August 20, Kazakh agrarians harvested grains and pulses throughout the areas of 2.08 mln ha (14% of the plan), against 1.033 mln ha (7.2%) on the same date last year, reported the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The production volumes of grains and pulses totaled 3.096 mln tonnes, up by 1.8 times compared to 2019. At the same time, the average yield is 8.6% lower than year ago so far at 1.49 t/ha.

All oblasts of Kazakhstan started the harvesting campaign of grains and pulses.

“The harvesting campaign is coming to the end in southern and western regions. Jambyl oblast harvested grains throughout 99.6% of the planned areas, Turkistan oblast — throughout 82.7%, West Kazakhstan oblast — throughout 81.1%. The main grain-producing regions — Akmola, Kostanay and North Kazakhstan oblasts — harvested grains throughout 4.9%, 4.7% and 11.2% correspondingly”, - was stated in the message.

The Ministry of Agriculture forecasted the production of grain would reach 20.5 mln tonnes in Kazakhstan in 2020, up from 17.4 mln tonnes in 2019.
