As of August 31, Ukrainian farmers harvested 41.2 mln tonnes of the main agricultural crops from 10.94 mln ha, including 38.4 mln tonnes of grains and pulses from 9.68 mln ha (63% of the total areas), reported the press-service of the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine.
In particular, sunflower harvest totaled 221.5 thsd tonnes from 150 thsd ha (2%), millet – 29.8 thsd tonnes from 15.9 thsd ha (11%). Six oblasts started to harvest buckwheat and the output reached 19.77 thsd tonnes from 11.29 thsd ha.
“The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center informed that the dry weather conditions caused the deficit of soil moisture in Ukraine that affected the yield of crops. However, the forecasted volume of production remains optimal for inner consumption and export due to May rains”, - was stated in the message.
