Russia to implement 15 mln tonnes grain export quota

The government of Russia is considering implementation of grain export quota in the volume of 15 mln tonnes for the period from February 15 to June 30, 2021. A corresponding draft decree of the Cabinet of Ministers was placed at the Federal portal of projects of legislative acts.

“To implement the quota for export of wheat and meslin, barley and corn, being essential for the domestic market of Russia, in the volume of 15 mln tonnes, excluding seeds of grain crops, outside the territory of the Russian Federation to non-members of the EAEU since February 15 through June 30, 2021, in accordance with the export procedure of customs”, - was stated in the document.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia considers it is necessary to cover inner needs and support food security of the country above all, despite the aim to increase the export of grains.

According to official estimate, beginning stocks of grains totaled 21.2 mln tonnes in 2020/21 MY, including 19.4 mln tonnes of wheat, corn, barley and rye. The Ministry set the production of grains at 127.5 mln tonnes, including 115.8 mln tonnes of wheat, corn, barley and rye. Inner consumption of grains will reach 68.8 mln tonnes in 2020/21 MY, including 33.9 mln tonnes in the second half of the season.
