As of April 1, Russian farmers planted spring agricultural crops throughout the general areas of 489.7 thsd ha or 1% of the forecast (2.178 mln ha year ago), declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

Particularly, farmers of Southern Federal District planted spring crops throughout 272.4 thsd ha or 5% of the plan, North Caucasian FD - throughout 215.1 thsd ha or 12.7% and Northwestern FD - 0.2 thsd ha or 0.1%.

In particular, farmers planted spring grains throughout 369.2 thsd ha or 1.3% of the forecasted area (1.478 mln ha in 2020), including wheat — 2.6 thsd ha or 0.01% of the forecast (150.5 thsd ha in 2020), barley — 138.7 thsd ha or 1.8% (814.8 thsd ha in 2020).

As of the reporting date, farmers of some regions of Southern and North Caucasian Federal Districts planted sugar beet throughout 2.8 thsd ha, or 0.3% of the plan (193.1 thsd ha in 2020).

In addition, agrarians applied additional fertilizers to winter grains throughout 7 mln ha, or 35.9% of the planted are (11.7 mln ha in 2020).
